SFC Introduced Virtual Asset Trading Platform Lists

SFC Introduced Virtual Asset Trading Platform Lists

by October 2, 2023

The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) recently launched multiple lists regarding virtual asset trading platforms (VATPs) on its website. This aligns with the SFC’s commitment to providing clear and transparent information to the public.

Among the lists are licensed VATPs, including OSL Digital Securities Limited and Hash Blockchain Limited, and VATP applicants, such as Hong Kong BGE Limited and Victory Fintech Company Limited. The SFC also features a list of closing down VATPs and another showcasing VATPs presumed to be licensed by 1 June 2024.

Additionally, a list pinpointing suspicious VATPs operating in Hong Kong has been introduced to protect investors. Investors are reminded that entities on the VATP applicants list aren’t officially licensed by the SFC, potentially not meeting SFC standards.

VATPs aiming for a license should submit comprehensive applications to avoid rejections. While the Securities and Futures Commission strives to keep these lists updated, potential discrepancies might occur between updates.

Investors are advised to exercise caution, especially when trading on platforms without ties to Hong Kong.
