Mox Bank recorded a profit before tax of HK$8.63 million in the first half of 2026. This is its first interim profit in six years of operations, and it comes after the bank broke even in the first quarter.

Operating income rose 69% year-on-year to HK$513 million. Net interest income made up most of that total, rising 52% to HK$452 million.

Deposits totalled HK$20.9 billion, and the customer base reached close to 800,000.

“While there is more work ahead to sustain this performance throughout the full year, Mox remains committed to building on this foundation, continuing to broaden its product offering and deepen the value it brings to our highly engaged customers across Hong Kong,”

said Barbaros Uygun, CEO of Mox.

    Wealth, insurance and cards

Mox+, the bank’s premium banking offering, launched earlier this year. Between its launch and August, the number of customers eligible for it rose 59%.

On its investment platform, Mox Invest, assets under management doubled from a year earlier. Trading value was up 34%, and investment revenue grew 75%.

Mox Insure has covered close to 20,000 customers since it began. It rolled out two products over the past year,

Personal Accident Cushion and Travel Pick & Go, and added Home Cushion Insurance in September.

On the card side, spending on the Mox Card grew 33% year-on-year.

    Use of AI

The bank said every employee uses internal AI tools, and staff have built more than 500 personal AI assistants.

All of its engineers use AI daily, and 70% of them work in an agent-first way.

In its fraud and customer due diligence teams, automation has led to efficiency gains of more than 50%, the company said.
