Global insurtech bolttech has appointed Kohei Watanabe as General Manager for Japan, with responsibility for the country’s business, including profit and loss oversight across both domestic and international operations.
Watanabe brings extensive experience across insurance, underwriting and technology.
He spent 17 years at Tokio Marine in senior leadership roles in Japan and the UK, including at Tokio Marine Kiln, and later oversaw product planning for corporate underwriting in Tokyo.
He then moved to Singapore to help build Liberty Mutual’s Japanese business across the Asia-Pacific region.
Most recently, he led go-to-market strategy and sales expansion across Asia for ICEYE, a Finland-based space technology company serving the insurance sector.
Based in Tokyo, Watanabe will lead bolttech’s Japan strategy and work closely with key strategic partners, including Tokio Marine and Sumitomo Corporation.
Philip Weiner, Chief Executive Officer, Asia-Pacific at bolttech, said:

“Japan is a strategically important market for bolttech, and we’re pleased to welcome Kohei Watanabe as General Manager, Japan. His deep experience across insurance, underwriting and technology, combined with a strong understanding of both the Japanese and international markets, will be instrumental as we continue to scale our partnerships and capabilities in the country.”
