PAObank today announced the appointment of Ronald lu as its new Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director, effective immediately, on LinkedIn.

According to the post, as the new PAObank CEO, lu’s hiring reaffirms the bank’s commitment to delivering exceptional SME and retail banking services, especially as it navigates the next chapter in its digital banking journey.

lu brings with him more than 20 years of banking and finance experience. In his new role, he will lead PAObank’s management team to further strengthen its presence in the financial sector, particularly in the evolving digital banking space. He shared,

“As PAObank marks its 5th year, we are embarking on the next phase of our business direction and strategy, placing more emphasis on retail banking services.”

lu previously served as Chief Executive of ZA Bank for over two years, where he helped steer the institution toward profitability, making it the first among Hong Kong’s eight virtual banks to achieve monthly profits in 2024. The bank recently reported a net revenue of HK$548 million in its 2024 annual results.

Prior to becoming the new PAObank CEO, he held senior leadership roles at Airstar Bank, China CITIC Bank International Limited and HKFC Finance Limited.

In recent PAObank developments, the digital bank secured an insurance agency licence from the Insurance Authority. It also signed strategic partnerships with China Ping An Insurance and FWD Hong Kong.
