Sunrate has introduced a virtual card that allows AI agents to execute approved business payments.
The company launched the multi-currency Agentic Card at Hong Kong Fintech Week 2026.
It enables AI agents to create virtual cards, initiate transactions and retrieve payment outcomes.
Businesses can set spending limits and restrictions based on merchant categories, currencies, locations and validity periods. All actions are recorded for auditing.
The card has also completed Mastercard Agent Pay certification, supporting identity verification and authorisation for AI-initiated transactions within Mastercard’s network.
Sunrate designed the card for use in procurement, business travel, marketing expenses and supplier payments.
Companies can issue virtual cards for specific tasks, with each card automatically expiring once the task is completed.
An online travel agency could issue a virtual card for a marketing campaign or supplier payment.
AI agents could then monitor spending, flag or block transactions that breach predefined rules and refer higher-risk payments for human approval.
The launch builds on Sunrate.AI, which includes five specialised agents covering payments, foreign exchange, compliance, onboarding and task coordination.
Li Yilong, Head of AI at Sunrate, said,
“The next stage of agentic payments is not simply about allowing AI to make recommendations.
It is about giving agents the ability to execute financial tasks within clear boundaries, with the right controls, identity and accountability in place.”
Sunrate plans to expand the technology to more business payment and treasury management activities.
