Tencent’s cross-border payment platform, TenPay Global and UnionPay International (UPI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on cross-border remittances during the Hong Kong Fintech Week 2026.

The TenPay Global and UPI partnership will explore solutions to enable two-way remittances. It could extend TenPay Global’s cross-border remittance platform to UPI’s global network of partner institutions while also drawing on the latter’s infrastructure.

Wenhui Yang, CEO of TenPay Global (Singapore), shared on the TenPay Global and UPI partnership,

“Our goal is to make sending money as simple as sending a message. No company can achieve that alone. Partnering with UnionPay International brings that experience to more overseas users through institutions they already rely on.”

Xia Zhi, the General Manager of the Innovative Products Department at UnionPay International, added, sharing that the partnership extends UPI’s remittance services to the Weixin wallet, providing customers with more remittance options.

According to TenPay Global, remittances to Weixin are available 24/7, arriving within a minute. Identity verification and compliance screening are completed in milliseconds too.
