The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) and Cyberport have launched tConnect Launchpad, a programme connecting financial institutions, technology firms and digital asset innovators to speed up tokenisation in Hong Kong, the HKMA announced.
Unveiled at Hong Kong FinTech Week 2026 on 2 November, the initiative will explore and validate pioneering tokenisation use cases. Cyberport, the government-owned digital technology hub, hosts more than 2,300 companies, including hundreds of fintech start-ups.
The launchpad sits under the tokenisation pillar of the HKMA’s “Fintech 2030” strategy. Its DART framework also covers data and payments, artificial intelligence and resilience.
Alongside the launchpad, the HKMA has moved EnsembleTX, its platform for settling tokenised transactions under Project Ensemble, to a new stage that supports 24/7 real-value transactions.
The HKMA said this will let banks and their clients allocate funds globally, manage tokenised asset portfolios and run treasury operations more efficiently.
The HKMA has also completed trial trades of tokenised Exchange Fund Bills with Recognised Dealers in the secondary market, and plans to expand the trials to include regulated stablecoins soon.
HKMA Chief Executive Eddie Yue said banks and fintech firms “can better harness data, A.I., tokenisation and other emerging technologies” as the city builds on its Fintech 2030 progress.
