South African fintechs Vaultavo and AlphaOmega Intelligence are presenting digital-asset custody and AI technology to Asian investors at Hong Kong Fintech Week 2026.
Both firms are part of a Brand South Africa delegation aiming to build closer financial and technology ties between Africa and Asia.
The event runs from 2 to 6 November, with more than 45,000 participants expected from over 120 economies.
Brand South Africa presents the country as a well-regulated gateway to the continent, citing its removal from the Financial Action Task Force grey list.
It highlights the Reserve Bank’s plan to give qualifying non-bank operators direct access to the national payment system from mid-2027.
According to the delegation, trade between South Africa and Hong Kong totalled R246.6 billion (about HK$117 billion) from 2021 to 2025.

“Hong Kong connects the world to Asia, and South Africa connects the world to Africa. Together we can build a corridor for capital and technology that benefits both regions,”
said Tshepiso Malele at Brand South Africa.
Vaultavo builds custody infrastructure for banks and financial institutions. Its system requires a biometric smart card to verify the person authorising each transaction.
Client keys are held in segregated secure hardware with audit trails. Founder and CEO Philip Meyer will present its use in institutional custody, stablecoins and tokenised assets.
Johannesburg-based AlphaOmega Intelligence provides AI-driven intelligence for corporate boards.
Meyer and Parushan Moodley will speak at South Africa’s session on 3 November. Two days later, the South African Consul-General in Hong Kong will host an invitation-only investor event.
