HSBC has launched HSBCnio, an AI-enabled digital solution that brings transaction banking services and data into one connected experience for corporate and institutional clients.
The platform allows clients’ own AI tools to access authorised account and transaction information. This helps treasury teams incorporate AI into their workflows while maintaining existing permissions and controls.
The launch marks the next phase of HSBC’s digital banking transformation. It brings the bank’s services and data into the platforms and systems businesses already use.
How clients access HSBCnio
Clients can access HSBCnio through web and mobile applications using their existing HSBCnet credentials and permissions.
They can also connect their internal systems directly to HSBC through application programming interfaces (APIs).
The platform provides a consistent interface for viewing cash positions and transactions, arranging trade loans and foreign exchange (FX), and tracking payments. It also helps clients identify items requiring attention.
For businesses developing their own integrations, HSBC provides API documentation, software development kits and a sandbox environment. These resources aim to simplify integration and shorten the development process.
Read-only access for clients’ AI tools
HSBCnio allows clients to connect their own AI tools to authorised banking information through HSBC’s Model Context Protocol (MCP).
MCP is an open standard that enables AI applications to connect with external data sources and tools. Through HSBCnio, clients’ AI systems can retrieve account and transaction information on a read-only basis, subject to existing permissions and controls.
HSBC identified liquidity forecasting, variance analysis, cross-border cash balance analysis and reporting as potential applications.
The bank said the capability could reduce the time treasury teams spend searching for and interpreting financial information, allowing them to make more informed decisions and identify opportunities earlier.
Hong Kong’s treasury centre push
Around 4,000 multinational companies have regional headquarters or offices in Hong Kong, according to HSBC.
In June 2026, the government introduced the Action Plan to Promote the Development of Corporate Treasury Centres in Hong Kong to encourage more multinational corporations to establish treasury operations in the city.
HSBC said HSBCnio would support businesses managing regional and cross-border treasury requirements.

“Hong Kong’s role as a hub for regional headquarters means businesses are managing flows across markets, currencies and entities,”
said Yvonne Yiu, Head of Global Payments Solutions, Greater China, HSBC.
“Treasury teams are increasingly expected to manage more than day-to-day cash and payments, but also to turn complex data into timely decisions. HSBCnio helps bring banking information and services into the tools and workflows clients already use, helping shorten the path from seeing what is happening to deciding what to do next,”
she added.
HSBC plans to expand HSBCnio with additional transaction banking capabilities and AI-enabled features, using MCP as the foundation.
These include Ask HSBC, a planned AI-enabled feature that will allow clients to query and interpret their banking information.
