OneDegree has promoted its Deputy Chief Executive Emily Chow to Chief Executive and Executive Director with immediate effect.
The appointment follows the virtual insurer achieving full-year profitability, calculated in accordance with the Insurance Ordinance.
Chow joined the firm as General Manager in January 2022 before stepping into the Deputy Chief Executive role in January 2023.
Under her management, the company reported that its revenue increased more than sixfold over the past four years compared to 2021 figures.
During her tenure, Chow focused on strengthening the company’s position in the pet insurance market. She also broadened the general insurance portfolio by introducing critical illness, home, and fire products alongside niche offerings for turtles, tortoises, and birds.
The digital insurance platform has used artificial intelligence and automation to improve its operational efficiency.
In 2025, administrative operational efficiency rose by 24% year-on-year, while revenue generated per employee grew by 42%.
Automated claims processing now allows approximately 40% of pet insurance claims to be approved within one second.
Chow brings more than 20 years of experience in the financial services sector, including over a decade in fintech leadership.
She was previously a founding member of two virtual banks and is currently pursuing a doctorate in fintech at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

“I remain committed to building a technology-driven, customer-centric and highly efficient insurance experience with a human touch for the people of Hong Kong,”
said Emily Chow, Chief Executive, OneDegree.
