Alipay has launched a service that lets OpenClaw-type AI agents make purchases and complete payments with user approval.
The feature builds on Alipay AI Pay, a payment tool for AI-driven transactions introduced in 2025.
Users can install Alipay AI Pay into a compatible AI agent, enable the payment function and complete identity verification.
Once activated, the agent can handle tasks such as renewing a membership, while the user still confirms the order and authorises the payment.
Alipay AI Pay is now pre-installed on Alibaba Cloud’s JVS Claw and has also been rolled out on DTClaw, developed by Ant Group Digital Technologies.
The service is also available for other OpenClaw-type AI agents, including Claude Code and Hermes Agent.
Alipay Adds Multiple Safeguards for AI Payments
Users can modify or cancel an order through a command before the transaction is completed.
Alipay stated that the service includes several security measures, including user-initiated activation, identity verification, payment authorisation for each transaction and a 24/7 risk control system.
Its Full Compensation account protection programme has also been extended to cover the service.
Alipay reported that AI Pay surpassed 100 million users in February 2026 and processed more than 120 million transactions during the week of 5 to 11 February.
The launch comes as Alipay expands AI Pay into more agentic commerce use cases in China, including retail apps, mini programs, AI smart glasses and consumer-facing AI applications.
The company has also introduced a broader set of developer tools to support payment integration, tipping and subscription payments within AI products.
