The annual Hong Kong Fintech Week is coming back next week for a multi-day event focusing on the latest innovations and trends emerging in the finance, banking and insurance sectors.
Organized by the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau (FSTB) and InvestHK, and co-organized by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), the Insurance Authority (IA), and the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), the 2022 Hong Kong Fintech Week will take place from October 31, 2022 to November 04, 2022, with the main physical conference to be held on October 31 and November 01.
This year’s event is set to attract more than 20 000 attendees and over 3 million views online from over 80 economies. Over 250 speakers, 400 sponsors and exhibitors, and more than 30 international delegations will be joining the event, which will be themed “Pushing Boundaries, Reaping Benefits.”
Global leaders in innovation, technology and finance will explore the future development of fintech through four key themes – global fintech outlook, fintech in Mainland China and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), the implementation of emerging technologies, and digital assets – with topics covered including artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), blockchain, the metaverse, environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles, and more.
This year’s event will be held as a hybrid event, taking place both in-person at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) as well as virtually.
Hong Kong eases requirements on arrival, But 0+3 will apply
Those attending in-person will be pleased to learn that COVID-19 related requirements have recently been eased to encourage travels into Hong Kong.
Since September 26, inbound persons from overseas places or Taiwan are no longer required to go through compulsory quarantine. Instead, the arrangement upon arrival in Hong Kong has been changed to “0+3” and replaced by three days of medical surveillance during which inbound persons are free to go out. They are, however, obliged to comply with Amber Code restrictions under the Vaccine Pass, followed by a four-day self-monitoring period, making it a seven-day observation period in total.
Inbound travelers are required to conduct nucleic acid tests at community testing centers, mobile testing stations or other recognized institutions on Day 2, Day 4 and Day 6 (the day of arrival being Day 0) upon arrival in Hong Kong, supplemented by daily self-arranged rapid antigen test (RAT) from Day 1 to Day 7.
Prior to boarding, travelers will need to present a declaration of a negative result of a self-arranged RAT conducted within 24 hours prior to the scheduled time of departure. This declaration should be made via the online Health & Quarantine Information Declaration of the Department of Health of the Hong Kong government.
Boarding requirement of having completed vaccination for Hong Kong residents have also been lifted, though non-Hong Kong residents aged 12 or above are still required to be fully vaccinated or have a medical exemption certificate before they are allowed to board a flight for Hong Kong.
This means if you plan to attend physical, you should come to HK three days ahead of the conference.
For those looking to attend remotely, the 2022 Hong Kong Fintech Week will feature 100+ hours of content which will be live-streamed across the two-day agenda of the main conference. Participants simply need to download and use the HKFTW22 app to tune into the virtual events they wish to join.
With the 2022 Hong Kong Fintech Week just around the corner, we’ve delved into the main conference’s agenda to curate some of the most anticipated sessions. These presentations and panel discussions feature global heavy-weighted speakers and focus on the hottest topics and trends arising in the global fintech scene.
